Check Cashing Wallet
It was in 1932 when Lafayette Allen Sr. and his wife, Edith, founded their first supermarket on Alford Street in Inkster. The store was featured in the Michigan Chronicles, Jet Magazine, and Ebony after being titled the “World’s largest Negro-owned food store operation.” 22 years later, they relocated to their current store at 3760 Inkster Road. The building still stands and is in operation today, once again under black ownership.

This six-card slot, one-bill compartment bifold wallet is embossed with the old signage in vegan leather. The lining print is our take on the classic roulette wheel.

INNER MONOLOGUE:

(I really only made this for my Dad. He instilled in me the value of money. Knowing when to get a grip on it and when it's okay to let it go. He's a cool dude so I had to come all black. I hate the color black so don't expect it from me all the time. My pops is a math genius, so we went to the casino one time and he gave me a slip where he explained to me the probability that his numbers would hit - that's where I got the roulette wheel lining from. I wish there was a better way I could picture it. I'll work on that.)
